"The student has a retake test tomorrow so we just reviewed for that. We went over simplification and manipulation of expressions involving multiple terms that included rational and negative exponents, powers of the imaginary number i, roots and radicals, variables, and positive and negative numbers. We did a lot of work on i and talked about its periodic repetition when being raised by the natural numbers from i^1=1 to i^2=-1 to i^3=-i to i^4=1 back to i^5=i and so on and so on. We also worked with foiling and factoring and being careful with sign changes."
"The student and I finished reviewed for her upcoming test covering circles and the various segments that intersect inside/outside the circle and the relationships between the angles those segments make and the intercepted arcs as well as the relationship between the various elements of those segments."
"We went over the student's homework involving geometric mean and altitudes of right triangles. We also went over the student's chemistry lab involving single replacement reactions. We reviewed activity series and completed the lab work. Overall, the student seemed to understand the material very well."
"During this session, the student completed her geometry homework due Monday. I want to make sure she learns the material, so I quizzed her on definitions and concepts as she completed the problems. I taught her a trick to draw a simplified diagram on the side of the problem figure that only encompassed one pair of parallel lines/transversal so she could focus on one pair of corresponding angles at a time. She found this to be extremely helpful and her skills and confidence really increased by the end of the session."
"We reviewed quadratic equations and the student finished her homework. She seemed to understand it but still needs to do some practice problems to fully master the material."
"The student has a quiz for Geometry, so we did some review, largely focusing on coordinate geometry. He has a good understanding of interior/exterior angles but has difficulty with coordinate geometry. We worked through some problems pertaining to coordinate geometry and determining if the resulting quadrilateral was a parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus or square. We worked through problems using a couple different methods and by the end of the session the student seemed to have a problem-solving method that worked best for him and had a better understanding of the subject."
