Tutoring review by Christopher in Dallas, GA
We covered a 4-page test review sheet which included topics such as: system of equations, finding the equation of a line with slope and intercept, finding the intersection of two lines, exponent rules (multiplying coefficients and variables, raising exponents to another exponent, and distributing exponents across parentheses), adding variables, and factoring. He seemed to need brief refreshing on setting up and solving system of equations but quickly demonstrated great proficiency. Finding the equation of a line, given coordinates in a table, was something that he needed to go through step by step and appeared to have not quite mastered. He understood the concepts as we walked through the problems and demonstrated good knowledge of slope and intercept, as well as the two main equations of a line. I wrote down some steps for him to follow to remember how to solve these kind of math problems. He has an exceptional ability to factor variables. We covered the different types of questions and concepts on the review, and I left the rest for him to do for practice. All in all, he had a very good attitude, demonstrated good understanding, and asked good questions. With practice, I believe he should do well on his test.

We went over the student's science fair project. We brainstormed ideas for the project and came up with one that tested common foods for acidity in order to see how much it took for food to affect the acidity of the body. We also went over the periodic table and reviewed mixtures, compounds, and matter.

Tutoring review by Andrew in Dallas, GA
The student already flew through his newest practice test, so I went back through the book and dug up some more math practice questions. Out of 31 questions he missed 4 (2 on percent, 2 on fractions). The 4 that he missed on this drill also had to do with percents and fractions, so I ended the session by having him do a percents drill. He started the session by completing the reading comp practice section that he had started last week. He got 20/24 correct. He then started a math achievement practice section.
