Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"[COVERED]: Cardiopulmonary. Subtopics: anatomy, basic physio, vessel characteristics, fractions of blood, Starling forces, fetal circulation, lymphatics, hemoglobin saturation, lung anatomy, gas exchange, and surfactant. [EXTRA PRACTICE]: The student and I will discuss cell bio and central dogma on Wednesday."
"He did a good job on building his mental map skills! I feel like it really showed. He did great work on the Roman numeral questions, and a good job using process of elimination to arrive at the answer."
"Discussed arguments in passages, types of questions in verbal passages, and types of wrong answer choice. Putting to practice w/passages."
"We went over strategies that the student can employ for the verbal reasoning section. This was a good first session."
"We spent the session going through problem sets on solution chemistry, acids and bases, and electrochemistry. Clarified some questions the student had on setting up equilibrium equations and told her what topics are essential for the MCAT (e.g. Henderson-Hasselbach)."
"The student and I met on Tuesday evening to review some general chemistry concepts. She'd mentioned in our first session that she often has difficulty distinguishing between kinetics, equilibrium, and thermodynamics problems on the exam. To work through this, I created a handout with several common question types that are asked in each of these subject areas. We worked through the discrete questions together, talking through the concepts and clarifying any misconceptions she had as we went. I assigned passages (as well as two subject tests and a number of discrete questions) for homework. I've also asked her to complete a full-length practice CBT test and another full-length verbal reasoning test before we meet next Tuesday. We will also be meeting this Saturday to cover electrostatics and electromagnetism. The student and I also spoke at length about the date she should register for the MCAT and how that would affect the submission of her AMCAS application in June. As of now, it looks like she's settled for the May 8th (as opposed to April 24th) test date to give herself more time to prepare for the exam."
"Thermodynamics questions and content. The student needs to invest some more time on his own to master the content and practice problems."
