Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered all of the topics to be expected on the final examination, specifically honing in on thermochemistry and stoichiometry. He has really come a long way since our first tutoring session; his grasp on the fundamentals of chemistry has improved markedly."
"On this day, the student and I worked on topics relating to gases. We examined the relationships between pressure, volume, and temperature in order to write to ideal gas law. We also solved several problems relating to gas and pressure."
"We reviewed nomenclature and went over her last test and quiz. After that, we started on unit conversions and molar mass in order to work ahead so she would understand the upcoming material better."
"We worked a percent composition problem for LiClO3. We also determined the empirical formula based on combustion data and determined the molecular formula based on the mass of the compound. We assigned the oxidation number for K2CrO7 and SO3(2-). I am recommending a study guide and he will send me the HW sets in advance to speed up the sessions. This is his first chemistry class so the concepts are new to him."
"On Sunday we went over her new topics in math and chemistry. She made a 91 on her math quiz last week and a 84 on her chem test! Her chemistry score rose 8 points with that grade. We are moving in the right direction!"
"Went over problem set questions and parts of a Chem test today. Still working to consolidate some concepts, but overall a productive session. I'll be trying to get her some extra materials later today."
"The student is currently learning about rate laws and equilibrium constants, including equilibrium concentrations and partial pressures. This is our first time meeting, however she is very motivated, willing to accept help, and diligently works out practice problems. She has some questions from her class that both she and I will work on for our next meeting!"
"The student and I spent the session talking about her progress in biochemistry, chemistry, and physics and going over two practice worksheets on kinetics and equilibrium."
"The student and I went through percent composition and I explained to her how she can solve each question and the concept behind them. Then we covered some questions regarding imperial formula and molecular formula. I explained the difference between them and how she can find molecular formula by having empirical formula. We also solved some questions for stoichiometry."
"In our session, the student and I reviewed material regarding the auditory system that we had previously covered as well as completing the topics that we had not yet covered. This included sound localization, phase locking, auditory disorders, and tonotopy."
"For this session we went over a practice final exam. We covered a few topics, such as polarity/amphipathicity, some general organelle functions, and protein structure. I do not have any concerns from this session."
"The student was working on her exam review, and had several questions dealing with work, energy, and kinematics. As always, she picked up concepts very quickly. Great job!"
