Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We are continuing to develop his strategies for sentence completion, supplemented with a great deal of vocabulary study as well as some math practice. The SAT flashcards have been a tremendously helpful resource, and as a result he is doing a much better job lately with retaining new vocabulary words (animosity, affluent, obliging, inadvertent). He continues to excel in math."
"Today the student and I worked on essay writing. We brainstormed for two prompts. He has improved in brainstorming. His homework is to finish writing those two essays and to write another one before our next session."
"The student and I reviewed a practice exam he completed for today's session. Based on his scores, he would have received a range of 630-710 on the critical reading section by achieving a score of 55 with 56 correct answers, 6 incorrect answers, and 5 skipped questions; a range of 720-800 on the math section with a score of 52 with 52 correct answers and 2 incorrect answers; a range of 720-800 on the writing section with a score of 46 with 46 correct answers, 2 incorrect answers, and 1 skipped question. Overall, this puts his score around a 2200. As far as the writing and mathematics sections are concerned, there are no recurring errors. The few mistakes that were made were the result of a mistake in reading; these can happen. Rather, the place for improvement is in the critical reading in a particular area. Of the 11 skipped or incorrectly answered questions, 7 dealt with sentence completions. Vocabulary is partly the reason for the missed answers here, but mistaking relationships is another component of his errors in this section. For our next session, we will explore sentence completion in depth."
