Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started with math and focused just on geometry. I gave the student a variety of techniques he could use to make sure he was following the question exactly, and we will keep practicing these techniques as we continue to focus on the math section. We finished with a writing section, which I wanted to test him on. He did fairly well in this section. We are going to meet again Friday after school to go over more math and writing to see how he improves!"
"I met with the students in the library. Both seem like they will be good students and are just a tiny way away from their component-score goals. I need to find a way to scoot them across the finish line in a few weeks with about 50 points higher in every category. We started with reading, since that was the weakest subject for both of them. We will be meeting Friday to go over some reading section and math assignments and start working on writing/math a bit."
"We began by going over the 2 practice tests she did - she got a 2360 and a 2350. She didn't have any lingering questions, so we quickly went over the essays, reviewed a slightly altered essay strategy that she tried and liked, and also went over some questions about what to do in down-to-the-wire situations on the essay. Next, she took a cumulative vocab quiz. We briefly went over exponent rules and translating functions, which are two math topics that gave her trouble. I had her do a sheet of practice problems for these. Next, she did a timed critical reading section so we can keep her in shape as far as timing on individual sections. Finally, as we will do each session until her test, we ended the session with a review of key things to think about before and during each section on the exam."
