Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on weights - pounds v ounces. It was fantastic. I had a great time working with the student and it was great to see how easily the concepts came for him. We ended the session by playing multiplication games with his sister. The quick pace requires him to stay focused and really know his tables. He did a fantastic job. Occasionally he needs to practice his 8x6's and 12x11's."
"-I met the student and her mother at library by their house. -We worked on third-grade math. -She struggled with the material at first, but she didn't do too bad. -I spoke with the her mother and left them with a few pages of optional work to go"
"The students mom told me that her teacher has noticed great improvement and maturity in how she is working through problems now, which is wonderful to hear. The student requested that we go over mean, so we spent a good portion of our session working on that. I had also brought practice problems from Book 2 of the state exam, so we went through those, as well. We covered a variety of topics, such as adding fractions, perimeter, line graphs, number lines, and estimating."
"The student is getting ready to take the 4th grade Math test. We spent today going through problems in each of the areas that will be covered on the test. He understands the math. We worked on solving word problems, and doing multiplication and division. We did some work with graphs and reading them. I believe that he is ready to take the test."
"The student and I divided this session between math and reading, beginning with math. His class is working on multiplying decimals, so we reviewed the concepts and process for doing so and then tackled several practice problems together. He did very well with this skill and made very few mistakes."
"The student is getting ready for his AP stats test, so we tried to cover as much as possible, going through the review material packages he had from his teacher."
