Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed the different types of statistical testing and how to distinguish them given different types of variables. We also reviewed the normal distribution and z scores in preparation for her final. Her final will be 30 multiple choice questions. Next session I will provide study guides for the major topics from the course."
"We went over what she got wrong on her Test 3. She didn't do too great. She said she didn't have enough time to complete all of the 9 problems in the 60 minutes allotted."
"The student has a statistics test on Friday, so instead of physics, we focused on statistics today. We reviewed probability distributions and binomial probabilities. I pointed out some things he should focus on to understand this topic on his own. Overall a good session!"
"The student and I went over his first stats quiz tonight. He some feedback from me on certain questions he had. I explained each question in depth and it seemed to help his overall conceptualization of the material. We went over creating frequency distributions and box and whisker plots. I showed him how to calculate the minimum, maximum, Q1, and Q3 in reference to a box and whisker plot. We also went over a difficult question where he needed to understand the best way to show or visualize a particular set of data graphically and why it was the best choice. We also covered calculating a mean and what a sample and population is."
"We covered the student's hypothesis testing assignment comparing three groups. He is doing much better with the statistical package software and with general concepts on statistics this week. We were able to complete this assignment in much less time and it was much smoother than the last assignment. I think he will continue to progress with each session and become more comfortable with the material."
"Today, we went over the student's homework in sections 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4. I also went over some calculator tips and word problem strategies. I left the chapter 2 knowledge test as extra practice."
