Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a test recently, and is now learning about circles. She also had an assignment on graphing inequalities. We started with the inequalities, but finished quickly because she had a much better grasp on them. We then moved on to circles, which are a completely new topic for her. As we worked with them, she became more confident. She mostly needs practice working with them, and should quickly improve."
"The student and I covered the fundamental theorem of calculus, integrals, finding the area under a curve, working with lower and upper bounds and curves. We also covered related rates. She has been grasping the concepts very well. I encouraged her to practice her flash cards again."
"We continued to work on decimals and percentages, focusing on calculations using money. We completed homework questions and some extra problems from both the lesson book and those provided by the tutor."
"We went over design questions. We went over some older review questions as well. She should be well prepared for her statistics exam after our final review."
"We covered substitution, graphing, and multiplication of equations as approaches to find the solution/intersection of two lines. We also covered no solution/parallel lines, infinite solution/identical line, and one solution/two nonparallel lines. The student demonstrated confidence and greater speed in these approaches going into test tomorrow, but still needs to be careful of simplification of fractions and keeping +/- signs straight."
"The student and I reviewed for his upcoming test on Thursday. We covered radical expressions, especially simplifying said expressions. We worked with square roots, cube roots and fourth roots. We also used cognates for square roots and cubic roots to simplify expressions. We also did a bit of work on fractional and negative powers and simplifying these expressions as well."
