Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed extrema, first and second derivative tests, and curve sketching. He began to see how the derivatives are related and how one can determine the features of the graph of a function more easily with Calculus. He was understandably confused at first but picked up on some examples by the end of the session."
"Today the student and I reviewed her questions discussing ratio test and the alternating series test. We then used ratio test to introduce the concept of intervals of convergence."
"Reviewed integral derivatives and anti-derivatives definite and indefinite answered questions on homework as well past and present."
"We started to look at the review sheet for the student's midterm test, mainly at domains of functions, limits, and continuity."
"We spent our time reviewing all differentiation techniques (product rule, quotient rule and chain rule). We did some trigonometric derivatives too and did some derivatives of more complicated trig functions. We used derivatives to find equations of tangent lines. Next session we'll probably use differentiation to find minimums and maximums of functions."
"During this session we went over the student's previous exam focusing on the questions he had difficulty with. On major problem I saw was vocabulary issues and understanding concepts of limits and discontinuity. We moved on to working on his homework which was on derivatives. There are several things he needs to work on but overall this session went well. I recommended he look at the assessment website and read the text book."
