Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I worked on some math review homework. Because some of her math problems were more time consuming, I had to make sure she stayed focused. She knew and understood most of this material and she was able to complete most of her work while I was there."
"We worked on a factoring worksheet in order to prepare the student for a quiz that he will be taking today on these topics. This was a review of the processes and rules for factoring that we have been learning the past two weeks. He is making some definite progress with factoring though he is still having a little bit of trouble understanding and executing FOIL, which is necessary to check his work. Overall, he felt confident about the quiz based on self-assessments taken in class."
"During this session, the student and I went over his Chapter Five Review sheet on trigonometric identities in preparation for his Tuesday exam. Overall, we identified some areas where he still needs to review in order to complete problems successfully. We will meet again Monday to finish the sheet and re-enforce the concepts presented in this chapter."
"The student and I only reviewed science today since she did not have any math homework due to Spring Break. She took her Earth Science exam on Wednesday and got a 78%. After making test corrections, Emma gained a better grasp of the concepts she missed on her exam. She was able to identify what she felt she did wrong on each problem, and we were able to work together to find an answer to most of the problems. We discussed weather symbols, pressures, wind belts, clouds, conduction, convection, radiation, temperature, precipitation, greenhouse effect, molecules vs density vs pressure, etc. She is making some improvements, but tutoring is definitely benefiting her still! It was a pleasure working with her! She has great potential if she continues to stick with it and continue working as hard as she does!"
"The student and I went over her study guide for her final. We went over a couple of beginning pages, over vocabulary, and the grammar portions of the study guide. I had her make copies of where it talks about verbs and verb conjugations."
"The student had some trigonometry from her math class that she wanted some help with. We worked on graphing angles and then using SOHCAHTOA to find missing angles/ sides. She always talks about how she struggles with math, but I think she should be more confident. She definitely understands a lot more than she thinks!"
