Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session went really well. We were able to go over a lot of concepts that we've been over before, but I wanted to go over them as a review. As I reminded the student, she will not be able to ask me questions on the exam so she has to be able to perform these things on her own, not just with my help. She understood that, and today, she worked through the problems I gave her on her own. After she finished a problem set I told her which ones she had incorrect and asked her to take a second look at them, and then she was able to fix them on her own. She needs to be able to do this on the test as well, so I encouraged her take her time and always take a second look at the question and her answer."
"We began the session with some algebra practice involving complex exponents. While new to many algebraic concepts, the student has already reached an enviable level of fluency and can solve complex equations in his head. We then moved on to a new practice test; he scored around an 895 raw score in verbal reasoning, or around the 75th percentile, which I was very pleased with. His vocabulary is already at a competitive level and with some more practice it will prove an incredibly valuable factor in his score."
"For our last session, the student and I focused on math. She practiced on the quantitative comparisons section, using practice tests and GRE tests. I used worksheets to focus on exponents and probability. Toward the end of the session, we worked on essay writing, as she began an outline for a prompt."
