Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During today's session, we focused on the student's handwriting. I began to mix in multiplication problems."
"We went over multiplying/dividing fractions and also order of operations. The student needs everyday practice on these concepts. She understands all the materials, just needs some practice."
"The student went over her homework, on which she is doing pretty well--only a few minor mistakes on her last few assignments. We played multiplication and division war again today, focusing on multiplication of numbers 1 through 5, and division of numbers below 35. We also added in a rule that the winner of each round must make the animal noise of the animal on one of the cards they won, which seemed to make her more comfortable than she has been at past sessions. I was very glad about this, because I think it will make future sessions more productive and fun for her. We also did a timed multiplication test for 0-3, which she completed well within the time limit (5 minutes) but got all the "0 x a number" questions wrong, so we went over what multiplying by zero does and I had her do a few additional practice questions both written and verbally. I left her with a word problem worksheet for homework because I think that was something she still could use a little practice on from last week, and told her that I will be bringing a harder timed multiplication test next week, with a little prize if she finishes on time. This was a very positive and productive session."
"The student and I reconvened today to begin working on algebra together. We went over lessons on finding linear equation models from data plots, angles formed by tangents and secants of circles, and direct and indirect variation. She said she understood the concepts much better after my explanations."
"The student had an exam on Friday, so we spent the session reviewing how to change repeating decimals into fractions. We also started going over some vocabulary as he starts to prep for the SAT."
"The student and I reviewed her summer math package that was due before she goes back to school. It covered many chapters all at once, all algebra 2."
