Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session with the student was a review prep for an upcoming exam in Work, Energy, and Power. To review this material, we went through his online physics chapter review questions, both conceptual and computational. The student is great with the straightforward problems, but occasionally gets a bit lost when trying to navigate problems that involve multiple concepts. To this end, we've focused more on thinking about the end goal, and how to get to that point. He seems fairly comfortable with most of the material, and only needs a bit more practice using the equations in their different forms for further ease in solving. He ended the first semester with a B, so we're hoping and working towards getting an A for this second semester."
"For this session, we finished working on the student's homework for the week. We covered simple harmonic motion and she did a very good job of solving problems that dealt with period, frequency, and amplitude of pendulums and springs. After physics, we reviewed some of her geometry material involving similar triangles and theorems that dealt with parallel lines of triangles, triangle bisectors, and medians of triangles. She got a B+ on her physics test the previous week."
"Reviewed unit on momentum. Discussed conceptual definition of momentum and what it measures. Also reviewed kinetic energy, potential energy, Newton's laws, and how these can be used to derive the momentum equations he learned in class. He completed a worksheet on change of momentum problems."
