Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on Work today; that is, Work as in W = F*D. There were a few problems that the student did not understand right away, but she worked through them well and even reminded me of other properties of Work. We then worked on volume problems, which are hard to conceptualize. We got some of the concepts down, but there is still more to go over. One thing I did suggest was to work out the algebra on these problems. Though it may be tedious, it is beneficial so that one does not miss small calculation mistakes as often."
"Today the student and I reviewed her homework. We discussed applications of infinite series and worked through problems discussing the ratio test."
"In this session we revisited the wrong answers in the previous test and worked on a problem finding maximum using second derivative."
"Discussed assignment on completing the square and graphing quadratic equations. Discussed how to find vertex from standard form of equation and what can be learned from the sign of the discriminant."
"Today we went over some algebra review that mainly consisted of factoring, finding zeros of polynomials, and complex numbers and roots. We then moved on to derivatives, and went over some of the material that we had done in the past. We also started talking about the derivative as a slope, and finding equations of tangent lines."
"This was the first session with the student, and we worked on solving systems of linear equations, specifically three equation problems. He is a very animated, fun, and positive student who is willing to work through problems to understand his mistakes. His attitude was extremely positive, and I felt that he was into the session throughout most of the time."
