"We went over all allegation method homework problems I had sent to the student. She seemed to grasp the overall concept well but struggled with filling in the correct concentrations in the correct places. We worked on skills that would help her decipher a problem and what each given concentration means in terms of how it fits into the problem-solving method. I also noticed that she struggled more with a specific type of problem, e.g. when given a set amount of one component, coming up with the amount of the other component she would have to add to make a desired final strength. I plan to write up more homework problems of this nature and send them to her to work on throughout the week."
"Today we reviewed plate tectonics, plate boundaries, rock types, the formation and characteristics of different types of each rock and how they relate to each other. She mainly needed more details on each of those concepts, she had the basic foundations down. I will be sending some illustrations of the types of plates and boundaries to help classify them a little better. We talked about using the rock identification flow chart and using an index card to look at only one characteristic at a time so it's not too overwhelming. No scores known yet."
"Today, the students and I covered unit conversions, power, work, potential energy and kinetic energy. The students are positive about the material. We discussed sanity checking answers about physical quantities. We also discussed how to systematically and carefully do unit conversions. I shared a worksheet that the students could use as practice."
