Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student and I covered the basics of simple and compound interest. We did both applied and theoretical problems."
"We reviewed the student's homework packets with doing practice problems for her upcoming test. We then worked on one variable algebra word problems."
"During our session, the student and I went over graphing rational and radical functions and solubility problems. She received excellent marks on the test she took after our last session."
"We covered the statistics topics of z-score, percentile rank, and quartiles. We solved four problems that involved finding the z-score of the provided value, and quartiles. As a conclusion, we reviewed the topics we have covered so far."
"Conducted a quick assessment of student strengths and weaknesses to devise strengthening math grade level fundamentals. We began with ratios and proportions within word problems. We then conducted a review of adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying. We also review the different formats of the fractions that include mixed number and improper fractions. The student was charged to better develop memorization of multiplication tables through 12 in order to better master comprehensive concepts."
"The student was able to focus long enough for stretches for us to do some productive work. He didn't have any homework so we focused on preparing for an upcoming math test. After he completed a practice test I wrote a series of problems for him that were similar to ones that he had missed or struggled with. His biggest issue was working with negative numbers... finding the temperature change between a negative and positive reading and such. We worked a bit on using a number line to help visualize this (a suggestion, I learned later, that he had dismissed when his mom had made it)."
