Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I reviewed improper integrals more in preparation for her midterm. We also reviewed integrals involving trigonometric functions."
"Following the same textbook, the student and I reviewed material from July 8th. We continued cross section of volumes and started integrals."
"Reviewed limits and derivatives, took a practice test in order to develop problem solving experience."
"We met to review Math material for the ERB CTP test. We started from an ERB ISEE sample test, which is considered to be adequate training for this purpose. The student did great job on lower level ISEE for quantitative reasoning. This portion included 35 questions for 34 minutes. She finished all answers in 33 minutes. Only two questions took her longer time to find an answer. Both questions fall into the category of data analysis and probability. Usually there are 4-7 questions in each category. We discussed the statistic vocabulary including mean, average and mode for a data set. She seems to be getting the right answer with slight prompting from my side. It feels like she is actively learning data analysis and probability and may benefit from some support and additional practice in this category. I also have noticed significant improvement since April in her understanding of algebraic concepts. She has no problem dealing with those questions. The second portion of the test was on mathematics achievements. It included 25 questions, which needed to be answered in 25 minutes. She did an amazing job finishing in only 17 minutes. She got all of the answers correct, and had difficulties only with one question on data analysis and probability and another with fractions. Overall, she did very good job on mastering her lower level ISEE Math. She can benefit from additional practice on data analysis and probability problems, and needs to review mixed fraction operations just to make sure strategies are fresh and current before the actual test. I would suggest that she try a middle level ISEE test. It could be more challenging for her, but it also can help her to move forward and comprehend all the required material for fall testing. I will be glad to provide her more support through her studies and practice."
"The student and I worked through two of his tests, correcting mistakes. He is taking a test tomorrow. In particular, went over how to graph circles and looked at half-life equations. I also explained synthetic division."
"We covered clock skills to the hour and half hour, reading the clock as well as turning the hands on a clock to make the requested time. The student is continuing to progress. We also reviewed addition and subtraction skills, and counting to 200."
