Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today I worked with the student on slope, point slope form, perpendicular and parallel lines, etc. to help with studying for a test tomorrow."
"The student worked on her take home test. The finished product ended up being 12 pages and she was very proud of the work done."
"The student and I worked on a long sheet of geometry word problems involving quadratic equations. In addition, we also had to work on applications of quadratic equations involving launching a rocketship. These problems were fairly repetitive and straightforward, and she did not struggle with them."
"The student and I had a great session. He has finals coming up in a couple of weeks, so we spent our time going through a review packet that his teacher provided. We got about halfway through the material, and we plan to go through the rest during our session next week."
"The student and I worked on solving systems of equations. Most of the assignment we were working on involved systems of only two equations. She did very well solving the systems algebraically through substitutions. Part of the assignment involved a series of work problems, many of which were of a similar form. I worked with her on picking out the important information given in the problem, and after walking her through one, she was able to mostly solve the second on her own. She was able to solve the third completely on her own and was better at translating the given information into equations as she moved on with the assignment. One problem required a system of three equations, and she was able to transfer her understanding of two equations to three in order to solve the problem. I was very pleased by how well she grasped the concepts. Also, she told me that she got a 90% on her last math test, and her big biology exam was a 93%. Hooray!"
"We covered perpendicular and parallel lines, polynomial functions, linear functions, transformations, inequality equations, etc. The student did well with everything that was discussed. She was very focused during the session."
