Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over a lot of rational functions problems. The student seemed to think most of it was pretty easy. We made it through all but oblique asymptotes from his notes for this week. Excellent session."
"The student and I worked on sequences and series for his upcoming exam. By the end of the session, he had a strategy/process for answering each type of problem (with the exception of mathematical induction). I believe that he is fully prepared for his next assessment."
"Last review for the final. Reviewed completing the square, factoring, graphing, finding the zeros of a function, asymptotes, y - intercepts and any axis of symmetry. Also reviewed logarithmic functions and trigonometric identities."
"We covered related rates problems and differentiation of trigonometric equations. He has an exam coming up on May 16th. He is going to go through more problems on his review sheet and we are going to go over them on Wednesday, May 7th."
"In these two sessions, the student and I covered how to use inverse trigonometric functions, double-angle identities, as well as foiling properties to solve trigonometric problems. He is doing very well and showing great improvement in his skills."
"We went over a lot of trigonometry, covering identities, triangles, and the unit circle. The student had just returned from vacation, so he was a bit rusty on the topics, but a few example problems to work through brought him back up to speed. There is a lot of memorization in trigonometry due to the identities and formulas needed to do the problems, so it is always tough in that respect. We went over some alternative ways to remember some of the formulas, but in the end, he will have to know them in order to do the problems on the test. I included some strategies on how to go about solving the problems, and when we went over the problems in the book, he developed strategies to solve the problems quickly."
