Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered linear functions and finding rates of change, and the student's bell-work from class included questions about the area of a circle and finding the mean, median, mode, and range of data. She also did an extra credit quiz focusing on rates of change and scored an 80%. Her algebraic comprehension has improved greatly, and she showed me that she got an 80% on her last test."
"We practiced converting polynomial functions to standard form, to vertex form, and factored form. Also, when the roots were given he put it into factored form and into the polynomial function itself. He did very well today and understood the concepts I taught him. He had a positive attitude towards the material that we reviewed today. I taught him how he can check the factored form of the polynomials; he would just foil them out again in order to come up with the original polynomial to verify the factoring was correct. He has several homework problems to practice with, and we will review those next time we meet. I noticed his confidence level in this subject area increased since the first time we met."
"We covered some advanced differentiation techniques, such as taking logs and doing implicit differentiation of the equation. Overall, the student understood this technique once we used it once and was easily able to reproduce it again to solve other problems. He was very comfortable in doing most of the problems we went through. He would occasionally make a sign error or would forget to compute some parts, but overall he has a great understanding of differentiation. He should do very well on his exam."
"We covered graphs of basic functions and domain of add root and even root and math competition test. The student is very hardworking and smart. Please review our exercises and notes of chapter 2 for your test next week."
"We went through the student's homework about quadratic equations. I explained to her how she has to use the completing the squares method to find the solutions to quadratic equation. She understood them and she was able to do them herself. We went through 22 examples. She is doing well."
"I had the student complete nearly four worksheets in his math workbooks today. He did a great job of paying attention and at the end of the session we played a game of chess. I also assigned him some homework over the weekend."
