Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"* Discussed basic SAT strategies * discussed a preparation plan * completed Section 2 and Section 5 (math) of SAT I discussed the structure of the SAT with the student, and told her basic strategies to use during study and when actually taking the exam. We worked through Section 2 and 5 of SAT. She is a great math student and only needs a little guidance and reassurance while completing problems. I left her with the SAT vocabulary words, root list, and some essay prompts."
"This time we continued our work with the addition of vectors, clarifying a few issues that arose since the last session. We also worked on kinematics in 1 dimension, specifically the kinematic equations in one dimension with the presumption of constant acceleration. Once the student felt comfortable calculating in one dimension, we discussed two dimensions and how 2D kinematics brings together one dimensional kinematics and the addition of vectors, the two chapters worked on thus far. "
"Student completed all multiple choice questions in Unit 2 Exam, and we created outlines, including specific areas in course text for citation to facilitate writing the Exam essay questions independently. Topics covered include Photosynthesis, Oxidation/Reduction, Cellular Respiration and Enzymatic Activity. We reviewed all completed all labs and quizzes and drafted an email to the instructor requesting clarification on questions which were worded in an unclear manner. The student should be able to turn in all of Unit 2 in by this weekend. We also outlined future readings and assignments to be completed before our next meeting."
"The student and I reviewed her homework from the past two weeks and continued correcting her practice test. By extrapolating from her partially-finished tests (homework), we discovered that she'd raised her cumulative score by seven points! She seemed to be much more confident in the math and science sections than she was on the practice tests. Well done!!"
"This session was very productive. We reviewed his entire homework and still had extra time to do practice problems. I feel like the student has a strong understanding of this material and am confident he will do well on his upcoming examination. We covered Taylor, Maclaurin, and Power series as well as material from last session. I brought an additional book to use as a resource."
"In this class, the student and I reviewed her homework and spoke about defined and undefined articles. I also emphasized the importance of pronouncing all letters in Spanish, since is a phonetic language. While she was reading, I helped her with her pronunciation and explained some other grammar rules which we will review in future classes. Her pronunciation is improving due to the emphasis we are putting into conversation and through reading aloud."
