Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student 1 learned to graph systems of equations and what their solutions are. Next time we will start solving systems of linear equations using the elimination method. Student 2 worked more with adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. Next time he'll get a look at mixed numbers."
"During this session, the students and I created flash cards that would help them to remember the 'opposites' that they learned earlier in the week. The cards had a picture on the front with the English word and the Chinese word on the back. We spent the entire time working on these and practicing with them. So far, they are not as familiar with the words, but we will continue to work on them in future sessions. I will also try to incorporate different words as much as possible in other lessons."
"Topics: Gravitational Forces, Centripetal Forces, Exam Practice Progress: We covered the latest homework assignments in centripetal and gravitational forces, and then moved into a practice exam that the professor handed out. We have one more meeting before her exam, in which we will cover the remaining homework and the rest of the practice exam. The student knows all of this material and just needs to practice. The more she works through them, the more familiar she will be with the concepts."
"I talked to his teacher who indicated which topics would be high yield for him, which included sequences and series'. We covered polynomial factoring and polynomial dividing briefly, followed by sequences. I feel as though we made good progress with sequences and he seemed to understand it well. He does need more work on polynomial dividing, which we can work on next time. I will see him later this week to continue our work."
"Today the student and I worked through his most recent assignment asking for a vignette representing a theme in his educational experience. We began by brainstorming ideas about his educational experiences and then worked through details that will help him write a descriptive vignette focused on writing evocative details."
"The student did very well in his big exam last Friday and would like to keep focusing on memorize word use in different contexts. We made a study plan for his in-class quizzes and will try different methods to improve his score even more on the future sessions."
