"We went over multiplication and division, and the rules to find out which number is divisible by 3, 5, etc. I left a two page homework for him to do. He is a fast learner."
"The student and I did multiplication and division card games. I was impressed to learn that she had multiplication skills even though she hadn't worked on multiplication in class yet. We made strides today with her "number sense." She gained a clearer understanding of multiplying 9 and was interested in the idea that 7 x 4 is the same as 4 x 7, etc. To finish, we did an addition practice worksheet. I left her with another worksheet that she'll bring back next week."
"This was my first session with the student. We went over her numbers and letters, from A to Z and 1 to 29. She practiced saying the numbers and letters orally and identifying them on paper. Next class, I will pick out some books in advance and we will choose two to read, one at the beginning of the session and one at the end. We will also spend some time on her homework."
"Yesterday, the student and I worked on reading comprehension and making inferences. After working on inferences, we worked on multi-step word problems. He only missed 1 out of the 7 problems that he worked on."
"We covered multi-step word problems with multiplication and addition. The student needed help with identifying when to use each process. She was enthusiastic and willing to try every problem. We drew pictures to help her visualize the numbers."
"We went over the student's multiplication problems (focusing essentially on the sevens tables) as well as some division problems her parents developed for the session. She understood what she was doing. She wanted to learn and master the material. I found a step-by-step process for her to use, one that she could follow and keep on track with. I also helped her to write down all of her math in a fairly similar structure. I left her with the step-by-step procedure for division."
