"Completed Homework #26 and #27; Reviewed for Test; Surface Area, Lateral Area, and Volume of 3D Figures"
"Today we reviewed two sections on the relationship between arc length and angle of inscribed angles, tangent, secant and chord segments. We then moved on to cover theorems on chord length proportionality, quadrilateral angle congruencies, and chord lengths in cases of tangents and secants meeting at a point outside of the circle. In addition to preparing for her next test on Friday, we got the good news that the student received a 96% percent on her last quiz. Her only mistake was forgetting to put a plus/minus sign when solving for a square root, and did all of the geometry perfectly. I look forward to similar results in the future."
"The student and I continued to review simplifying and solving algebraic fractions. He did a really excellent job! He seemed to really understand what we were practicing. Well done!"
"We went over the side splitter theorem, which is just a name for the ratios that relate sides of a triangle to segments within it. Then, I had the student attempt a retake of her first test. We will be continuing with this basic material in future sessions while keeping up with the class."
"Today, we worked on tangents to circles. The worksheet the student had was more difficult than book examples, so we had to create our own methods for solving. Once she knew the method, she was fine with the problems."
"The student and I met in advance for her test. We reviewed the proofs for triangle congruence. I talked with her about the nature of geometry and why it was so important to take one's time when working. I recommended that she work with online flashcards to help her get up to speed with geometric vocabulary."
