"The main focus of the session was limits, and discussing the properties, rules, and patterns for dealing with them. We practiced using one-sided limits as indicators of the regular limit and about the continuity of the function at hand. We practiced solving/computing limits to finish. Overall, he did a great job with the material."
"We discussed function theory and how algebra was to be revisited in the upcoming course. We discussed some applications of calculus and how he could prepare ahead of time. There was some summer homework we worked on. He is clearly motivated and wants to not only try on his own first but also is eager to understand the material."
"Today, the student and I reviewed for his final exam. We practiced computing integrals by computing areas, doing implicit differentiation, finding total value by integrating rates of change, related rates, optimization, the Mean Value Theorem, and sketching curves. We did examples from a couple of past exams from his class. He has gotten very comfortable with the material, and he seems to be very well-prepared for his exam tomorrow."
"During this session, we reviewed horizontal and vertical asymptotes of rational functions and went over first and second derivatives including critical points of functions. The student had some difficulty finding horizontal asymptotes of graphs, but with practice, she became better at it. She had a great attitude throughout the session and was eager to choose the hardest practice problems from her textbook and solve them by herself. At the end of the session, she had two problems from her test remaining and I assigned those for homework. It's been great working with her."
"Today's lesson focused mainly partial derivatives and understanding how they are applied in functions with multiple variables. In addition to that, we took a look at second partial derivatives with respect to the same variable twice and each variable once. The student said that these topics will be covered on the next exam, and the next session on Monday will be a continuing review with more practice problems."
