Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered Simple Harmonic Motion and Waves. The student struggled most with tying down concepts to equations, but was eager to learn as I presented the conceptual proofs for each equation. We worked on the exam review and they were to complete the remainder of it for the next time. I am optimistic about their future progress as they seemed diligent and willing to learn."
"This week's session was used to discuss viruses, viroids, and prions. We took an in-depth look at viruses by looking at their replication cycles, and all of the different genomes that viruses can have. We also had the opportunity to review all of the different staining techniques for her class presentation, as well as look at 16SrDNA comparison and DNA hybridization. Viral concepts were covered last semester, so the majority was easy to go over. I did, however, want her to understand the different types of viral life cycles prior to learning it in class tomorrow. I also wanted to make sure that she understood the different types of infections that can be experienced due to viruses. The next session will be used to go over the final chapter prior to her midterm exam as well as review any confusing topics."
"We spent the majority of the time studying for his Science quiz on 5.1 - the respiratory system. He wasn't sure of some of the questions, but seemed to grab the material quickly. We ended the session with his essay which the teacher helped him on. I looked at his Topic 8 materials for a test tomorrow, and he did some practice online. I asked the student to write down any homework or tests whenever the teacher announced them, especially on Mondays. I'm hoping to empower him to keep informed on his own classes."
