"Very good session; we practice test-taking strategies such as process of elimination and time management."
"Last session, the student told me that she struggles with listening comprehension, especially during lectures with specific or technical vocabulary. For today's session, I selected three texts and read them aloud to the student. The student took notes while I read and then we discussed the passages and answered comprehension questions about them. Though she was intimidated at first, the student gradually began to realize that she can understand the meaning of passages even if she misses some of the more difficult vocabulary. We will continue to practice to see if we can improve her comprehension."
"The student and I went over some verbal, math, and reading so I could get an idea of what she has a good grasp of and which areas she should practice more. She did well in all the sections we practiced, but there are some math topics she hasn't covered much in school. I think it would be good for her to start practicing expanding her vocabulary right away. The list of words in her review book is a great resource. We will practice more math problems together so she can have strategies to tackle different types of questions. She did very well with the reading sections. For that, practicing to become more familiar with the types of passages and questions would be helpful. I will send her some links to math topics she can review and some practice sets, including diagnostic tests. She should definitely do the diagnostic tests because she only has a short time until the test and it would be good for her to cover as much as possible and then work on more specific areas with me."
