Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was working with basic electric force questions and equations. She had several conceptual problems we talked about in some detail, and I think the concepts were (as they often are) the more difficult part, but she seemed to pick up on some of the ideas, and I think if she practices being able to explain them to herself she will end up with a good understanding for this course. She was very adept, as always, at setting up the mathematical expressions needed to solve certain problems, including systems of equations."
"We discussed a study plan from the teacher to review material for the test. We reviewed charges of common ions and how to determine ion charge from element position on periodic table. We also discussed noble gas configurations and why elements form ions. We reviewed naming of ionic and covalently bonded compounds and differences between the two types of bonds."
"We continued our practice of Mendelian genetics and probabilities. We touched on deciding when it would be best to use the binomial or factorial technique when calculating probabilities of offspring genotypes. The student is far more comfortable with the genetics questions than in the previous session, and is gaining proficiency in the material."
