Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed the practice test questions and practiced exponents and square roots in more detail. Both girls did very well."
"The student and I covered rational function division, multiplication, addition, subtraction and graphing. We prepared for her quiz tomorrow by reviewing a review sheet provided by her teacher."
"We went over some review homework that the student did very well on. It covered basic function mapping, I & D variables, and systems of equations. She was able to express competence on all three by the end of our session and knew a lot of it already. We then went on to working with quadratics, particularly transformations related to them. She did a great job. Smart student."
"The student and I spent the first few minutes getting to know one another and chatted about what she needed/wanted out of tutoring. She seems organized as she heads into the second semester and is set on doing well. We worked through some algebra practice and reviewed some biology terms she learned in class that day. We finished with her algebra homework; she was able to complete it all with minimal assistance. She struggles a bit with adding/subtracting negative numbers, but is cognizant of it and is working to improve. I will bring some extra practice for that next time we meet."
"The student and I went over roots of numbers and how to convert them into exponents as well as reducing roots. We went over several examples and she practiced in front of me until she felt comfortable with the material. I gave her several strategies until we found one that worked best for her and she understood the material much better at that point."
"We continued reviewing key algebra concepts. I taught her the rule of products and the power rule for dealing with exponents and we practiced simplifying polynomials. We also practiced solving polynomials for given values of x."
