"The student and I continued preparing for his first ACT. We began the session by looking over the practice passages he had completed since we last met. He marked passages that gave him trouble, and we worked through problems he got wrong. We then worked on math problems together. His performance improved when I gave him trigger words or a simple first step, and he was able to remember doing similar problems in class. For next time, I suggested he work through the sample problems in the beginning of his prep book. I also asked him to work on several reading passages. He had plenty of good feedback from his practice since our last session."
"The student and I covered in depth the different types of questions in the reading section and did some practice questions. We also started to talk a little bit about common pitfalls and wrong answer traps, and we will discuss this more thoroughly in our next session."
"We went over the science section and some strategies to help with time management. For reading, we did a few practice passages and started on the mapping strategy to get the student used to time constraints. His math seems to be fine and not much help needed."
