Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on finding the area of irregular shapes. She already knew how to find the area of regular shapes so we worked on that, then combined the concepts by practicing finding regular shapes inside of irregular shapes. She did well, asked questions and seemed to have a better understanding of the material after."
"I gave the student support with her review for chapter 9. She had just gotten her grade of 85 back from the test she took. She's now learning to find area of parallelograms, trapezoids, and other unusual quadrilaterals based on base, height, and diagonals. I reinforced the concept that the length and width can only be used when perpendicular to each other."
"We covered trigonometry, specifically understanding how to find side lengths and angles using trig functions. Student worked hard and was focused on problem solving. Included the strategy of when there are many triangles, start on the one that has an angle measurement and a side length, or two side lengths. Student is comfortable using trig functions after learning the essence of what they are."
"We continued to review for the student's placement exam. Material covered includes graphing functions from two coordinate pairs, slope, & solving simple systems of equations using graphing. He is attentive, & he's learning the material at a good pace (to be honest, he already knows a good deal of it)."
"Still working on triangles, but the new thing we're doing is that we're proving that triangles are congruent or not by comparing angles, sides, and then separating the triangles afterwards. Good lesson."
"Today, we covered arc length, sector, and segment area. We also went over his past tests and homework. The student had a few issues with previous problems on the test, but he has a strong grasp on most of these concepts, and the errors he made were mostly calculation mistakes. I enjoyed tutoring him."
