For this session we reviewed assigned homework. The student stated that he felt like he rushed through the problems and forgot some of the steps. I showed the student how to double check his answers and worked through a few additional more complex problems. The student answered all problems correctly after that and showed great improvement in using the quadratic formula!

Tutoring review by Lauren in Pleasant Hill, OH
We went over the Conflicting Viewpoints and Research Summary passages on the ACT Science test. The student's attitude was positive and willing to learn. I left him with a diagnostic test for the Reading section and a practice test for the Science. The student needed help the most with research summary passages that analyzed science he has not yet covered in school, such as physics experiments. I talked about how to approach the different questions in the different passages, as well as the most time-efficient way to approach reading the passages.

Tutoring review by Angi in Pleasant Hill, OH
The student and I worked more on adding fractions with unlike denominators. She did well. She had to find a common denominator, and there were times that she had to simplify the fraction even after she got the answer. It was a lot of work but she stuck with it and did a good job. It is also helping her with her multiplication. In the last few minutes, we practiced her multiplication facts. The fact that she still doesn't have them memorized is causing her some trouble so this will be a major focus for us.
