Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student wanted to go over some trigonometry for his upcoming midterm. We were able to go through all the review sheets that his teacher provided. I had him show all his work for each problem that was presented to him."
"We reviewed the student's homework. He was confused with some of the material at the beginning of the session. We resolved his confusion by reviewing rules that he learned in previous years of math. Once we made the connection, he understood the material."
"The student and I worked on functions, graphs, exponents, and logarithms. She did well with the concepts as we went along, and we were able to cover a great deal of material."
"We went over doing limits of functions where the value converges or diverges. I introduced both of these ideas to him and it wasn't very difficult. We did some more limit problems, one in particular with the case of sin(x) and how its limit is very difficult to find. Afterwards, we started doing a problem using the limit definition of the derivative, but using 2 different definitions. We used both to solve 2 separate problems, and I pointed out the difference and which to use in which situation. Finally I introduced him to the intermediate value theorem and mean value theorem, both of which the student picked up very well."
"We covered planes, points, lines, and postulates. We talked about how we know that a plane has 3 points and how to write different postulates."
"During today's session, we went over trigonometric functions and solving systems of equations with three variables. The student struggled a little with simplifying irrational number square roots, but fully understood the concept by the end of the session. We were able to work ahead and I taught her how to use the substitution method when solving systems of equations with three variables."
