Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on inductive reasoning and conditional statements today. She really nailed it in the final review of the session!! Well done!!"
"This was our initial meeting so we spent a little time with introductions and becoming comfortable with each other. The student has already taken multiple quizzes and so we spent our time reviewing and studying from them."
"Finding midpoints using distance formula, angle bisectors, complementary and supplementary angles, adjacent angles and congruent angles. Progress achieved:- Explained the above concepts, the student needs more practice using midpoint and distance formula, and writing elaborate steps to avoid mistakes. I am working with her on writing elaborate steps and explaining the concepts to her."
"Went over a past test that the student had to make corrections on. We also worked on the a few theorems that she did not fully understand."
"This week the student and I went over angles and the addition/subtraction of various angles in order to determine an unknown angle. I explained to him how this is merely an application of Algebra where the unknown angle is substituted by "x" and we're solving for x. He shows steady progress, and it doesn't take him long to learn a new topic in Geometry which is great for him! We also worked on his homework and got a head start on some of the topics he'll discuss next week in his class. Lastly, he asked me questions about college and how to prepare for life as a college student, and I spent the time to explain to him what it meant to be a college student and what his focus in college should be. Overall, good session."
"Introductions, then reviewed homework assignment on polygons and geometric proofs. The student seems to know his multiplication very well and is very respectful and hard-working."
"The student and I worked on homework that covered paragraph proofs. We used the midpoint theorem and substitution theorem to explain why certain segments were congruent. We also worked on homework over the degree of truth, always, sometimes or never true statements, as well as conditional statements."
"Today I helped the student with a geometry project that was due on Monday using a graphing compass. We also practiced some math problems that I made up for him to do."
"We went over differentiating between incenter circumcenter and orthocenter properties of points of concurrency of triangles. Also covered drawing perpendicular and parallel lines with two given lines and/or points."
"Today we through the examples that were covered in class on how to write two column proofs. She also did the homework that was assigned to get more practice with the topic. After reviewing, we went through quizzes and tests that she recently took. For those that she got incorrect, we went over them. Oftentimes, the reason she gets things incorrect is not because she doesn't know the material but she makes simple math errors."
"We did homework involving complementary, supplementary, vertical, and adjacent angles that also combined algebra."
"Talked with the family about tutoring sessions for Mondays or potential weekends. Worked on explaining proofs with the student. She feels more confident in explaining her answers."
