Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session we went over a reading comprehension, verbs, pictograph, and adding and subtracting word problems worksheets. He read a passage about "Fumi's House." It was about the home of a boy. After reading, he answered basic questions like the main idea of the passage and what the boy did. Next, he did a verb worksheet. He read a menu and had to circle the nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions in different colors. There was a sentence such as "There are spaghetti and meatballs." He circled spaghetti and meatballs in blue because they were nouns and circled "and" in red because it was a conjunction. After finishing, he did a pictograph worksheet. Here he had to read the graph and count the pictures in the graph and answer questions. Finally, he did adding and subtracting two digit numbers such as 45+55. He was not struggling with anything."
"During today's session I help guide the student to complete his homework assignment on estimation and addition."
"The student and I worked on multiplying decimals. She expressed that she has difficulty in division. I learned that the student is a visual and verbal learner. Therefore, I will work with the student on division and the multiplication table in addition to whatever homework she has."
"Today the student worked on counting forward and backward by 2s and 10s and distinguishing between even and odd numbers. He also began working with 2-by-2 subtraction in his workbook. Keep up the great work!"
"The student worked on her math homework. She had addition and subtraction word problems to complete. She had to use pictures, words, and numbers and decide which operation it would be based on the key vocabulary words. She did not need to use the "key" to choose which operation it would be. She also completed 9 sprints. We will continue to work on basic addition facts in a multi-sensory approach."
"We reviewed addition and subtraction of fractions, including mixed numbers. We also reviewed the multiplication grid, specifically 6-9 times table. The student demonstrated great understanding of fractions. She is to review her multiplication grid 0-12 at home."
