Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over most of the problems from tutorial 9. We still need to go over delta/ star transformations and tutorial 10 problems. We will also possibly go over tutorials 5 and 6 on first-order switching circuits. The student was initially struggling to understand phasors and performing calculations with them, but good progress was made in the tutorial. She should cover the rest of the problems we didn't cover in tutorial 9 and see if she has any further difficulties with them."
"Following yesterday, we kept on doing reviews for his coming exam. Today we covered: limiting reagent calculation, scientific sig fig calculations, unit conversions, difference between ionic and covalent compounds, and all the practice related with Lewis structure."
"We discussed gas laws in prep for her exam. We discussed kinetic molecular theory and how they applied to gas laws (I told her to review topic prior to exam). We then discussed laws in more detail covering the assumptions of each. We finished chapter 10 and will continue with the remaining material next time."
"Today, the student and I went over material that he will be quizzed and tested on this week in his AP biology class. We began by reviewing information from the urinary system chapter, a subject he showed significant mastery in. After clarifying some concepts about kidney function, we began to review the basics of nervous system. He showed a lot of interest in this subject, and seemed to grasp difficult concepts very quickly! At the end of the session, I left him with further study instructions, including diagramming and labeling the different structures of the brain. Overall, this was a great session!"
"During this session, I started to help the student prepare for her final chemistry exam at school. I guided her in completing the portion of her review practice questions due tomorrow, going over not only the answer to the question but also each concept and equation related to the question in order to give her as effective a review as possible based on the questions."
"In today's session, we worked on practice problems involving writing and balancing equations, and stoichiometry. I also sent the student additional worksheets on acids and bases, periodic table trends, solubility, atomic structure, molecular structure, and gas laws. The student really started to understand equations well and was able to complete pretty much every problem we looked at without much help from me. She is going to work on all the practice I gave her."
