Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over square roots, irrational numbers, exponent rules, and adding and subtracting square roots."
"Today we solved quadratic equations by graphing. Using what we practiced last session, the student graphed her quadratic equations and determined where the graph crossed the x axis to come up with her solutions. She did well with this concept and it helped reinforce graphing quadratic functions. We will continue to practice this concept so she feels more comfortable with working these problems faster. She had a positive attitude throughout the session. We had to work on rewriting the equations in standard form and discussed how the sign changes when quantities move to opposite sides of the equal sign. Great session."
"The student and I covered exponential equations. She worked through a homework worksheet requiring her to write the function for exponential equations. We then discussed strategies for adding and multiplying."
"We covered converting between radical and exponential form, reviewed exponent rules for quiz, algebra basics, and I left work on writing algebraic equations. The student seemed more comfortable applying exponent rules to simplify problems. He struggled with negative exponents though, so I suggested more practice. He sometimes confuses rules for adding vs multiplying exponents."
"We covered: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and division of polynomials. Also reviewed simplifying fractions and long division."
"We covered some very basic things about ecology. We covered temperature regulation, natural selection, and a few general topics of niches."
