Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The pupil and I covered word problems, counting money, writing fractions, and telling time. I left him with flashcards that he could use to practice time and money, and a few sheets of story problems for extra practice."
"Converting among percents, decimals and fractions: 94% accuracy. Common percent table: 100%. Multiplying by percents that are powers of 10: 100%. Set notation: explained terms and symbols. Very quick understanding of concepts; just needs to review and practice symbols to build confidence. Positive and zero exponents: excellent work."
"We covered factorization (Part I), special cases, examples using the principles of factorization, application of these concepts to word problems, multiplication of binomials, and simplification of binomials. We practice slope-intercept form and multiple-choice questions. The student was assigned practice questions for homework. He has shown improvement in his class."
"During this session, I helped the student prepare for her math test Thursday. I selected a variety of challenging problems from the geometry packet her teacher had handed out. A couple of these problems integrated algebra, which I used as a springboard to review the algebra unit she learned earlier in the semester."
"We used part of this session to conduct a progress report. As the student worked on his math homework, I went through his grade report to see what was outstanding or incomplete. After he finished his homework, he started working through those assignments. By the time we were done with the session, he had finished all four outstanding assignments and had made corrections. Overall, his grades look pretty good."
"First we worked through a problem involving estimating the slope of the population line of regression, then we covered multiple regressions and f-tests. The student seemed to pick it up quickly."
