Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed two of her recent quizzes and worked through the problems together. These problems related, in general, to net forces and determining the motion or acceleration of objects that are subject to several forces. One concept that she seemed to be struggling with is the difference between "mass" and "weight." I repeated the statement "objects in space have mass but no weight" several times during the lesson to highlight one difference between the two quantities. We spent the final few minutes reviewing momentum and the concept of conservation of momentum. We worked through some additional sample problems. She indicated she has a quiz on this material this week. She seems to understand the concepts- but needs to make sure that she takes the signs into account when adding up the momentum before and after collisions."
"Today we covered equilibrium kinetics namely forward reactions, reverse reactions, summed reactions and all their relevant applications. The student is performing very well both in tutoring sessions as well as on his exams."
"In this session we worked on balancing chemical equations. We worked through a worksheet that the student's teacher had given him. The student was concerned that he was not comprehending it properly, we went over ways that would make the solutions easier to find."
