While I'm fully proficient now, I struggled with both languages early on, and understand the challenges of both starting a new language and in moving from a conversational to a more proficient level. I'm also available for ACT and SAT test prep -- and work especially well with students who are visual learners (though...

Emily ...instill in them a curiosity about the natural world. I have a very laid back teaching style and am willing to tailor my teaching methods to most benefit the student’s style of learning. However, once the student has a firm grasp on a concept I hope to challenge them and encourage them to practice critical thinking. My goal is to help students not only memorize the material, but to help them make connections to other...

Ginger ...over 15 years with students in small groups and individually. My primary subject of tutoring is in math, which I love. To me, there is no better feeling than seeing the light come on when a concept that was "too hard" becomes understandable to a student. I also love that students from past years will approach me in public and share their successes and thank me for the help I was able to give them.

Danielle ...Since then, education has been at the forefront of my mind as I tutored fellow students in High School through the National Honor Society and achieved my Silver & Gold Awards in Girl Scouts by running my own reading camps for at risk youth in local community centers and installing libraries there and creating documentaries about the Holocaust which I toured to local schools. While at college, I worked at a local Tallahassee tutoring company,...

Michael ...by providing a relaxed, stress free environment. My goal is to help students learn in the way they find most effective. If one way of explaining a topic does not work, I will try explaining it in another, more fitting, way. My hope is that through asking students questions about their work, they can better understand what is in front of them. I want to be a part of a student's learning process, and I...

Crystal ...will be an opportunity for students to ask questions, make mistakes, and overcome deficiencies. Students will leave each session with a strategy (or more) that will help them to succeed in their area (s) of focus. Having worked with students who fall below their grade level proficiency, I exercise patience and practical teaching strategies to meet students where they are. I am fully committed to helping students reach their academic goals!... I believe that every child has the ability to reach their potential. For students to succeed, they must have a teacher who is willing to meet them where they are. This is what I do. I help students use their strengths to overcome their weaknesses. I believe that teachers should provide students with opportunities to learn about areas that interest them, as well exploring topics outside of their culture. In everything that I teach, it is with high hopes that students become more culturally and globally responsive citizens.

Greg ...people so I've decided to tutor in my spare time. I specialize in math tutoring as I was always the guy in high school and college helping out others in my class whose questions weren't answered or who just didn't get it during the lecture. My job as a structural designer involves lots of math, mainly trigonometry, and so it has kept me sharp and still able to do SAT math easily.... My teaching philosophy is that patience is the most important thing. If a student is not absorbing the material, one should never blame the student but should instead try a new approach to teaching the material, and keep trying until you find a good fit for the student.

Michael ...tests. My prior teaching experience includes mentoring in both group and one-on-one settings. While most of my teaching has been done with my students of similar age, I would be comfortable with younger students as well, having been an older sibling for most of my life. From personal experience from the point of view of both a teacher and a student, learning is not always a straightforward process. Teaching plans should be compatible with individual...
