Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we did a mini lesson on how the integral is used in calculus to find the "area," under any given curve. Throughout tutoring I sometimes will reinforce older concepts such as function notation, algebra manipulation and a review of certain functions. All of these ideas were necessary to understand how the integral works and she caught on rather quickly. We also reviewed u-substitution and touched on how to identify when to use certain anti-derivative rules."
"We went over her study guide. She had a little trouble finding extrema but got better over time. Her work is spot on and accurate, and she seems ready for her final at the end of the session."
"We went over his calculus homework involving derivatives. No new scores or grades. We are working on minimizing simple math mistakes. He has homework to review."
"We covered multiple-angle solutions, double-angle formula, sum to product, product to sum, and half-angle formula. I saw a significant improvement from last session since the student worked on what we covered Saturday over the weekend and I noticed a better grasp on the material."
"We practiced many problems on taking derivatives of trigonometric functions. We also went over study skills for the student's biology class, and I offered my explanation of a few concepts she did not understand."
"Today, we did our final review for the midterm the student will take tomorrow. He did very well at remembering the topics. Then, we introduced and recovered the examples they went over today in class on the topic of related rates. He did well with understanding the methodology. Finally, we worked on more optimization problems and looked at cost and profit."
