Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered substitution, elimination, and radical mechanisms today. I suggested that the student write out a pathway map to show how functional groups are converted between one another."
"The student and I reviewed all his course material for his test on the periodic table and periodic trends. We also completed many practice questions."
"We covered some classification of functions for math, and for chemistry we went over isotopic abundances and determining the number of subatomic particles in individual atoms. We had to go over how to classify functions, and their definitions, such as continuous, discontinuous, and discrete, but once we defined those he was able to classify them just fine. There seemed to be some questions on what the mass number was, but again, once we went over it he was just fine. The biggest hurdle was the formula for finding isotopic abundances in atoms. That is a tricky problem, and I don't think that he had much practice in class, so we had to go over that in detail. But when I made him do the problem himself he was able to get the correct answer. I did not go over any strategies, but I brought my general chemistry college textbook and we went over some problems from there that applied to what he was learning. I did not see any scores or grades to note progress."
