Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, I had the student complete an oral exercise, and we continued to cover pronouns. He did well on the oral exercise. He also did very well on the direct object worksheet I asked him to complete. Since he reviewed indirect object pronouns on his own, I had him complete a short worksheet on this as well. He did very well in this too. For homework, I asked him to complete two worksheets and prepare for an oral exercise."
"The student keeps improving in every session. Today he had an exam in Spanish and felt he needed extra practice on the usage of a few words. I tried to use those words in our session as much as possible so he could practice and internalize the material. Towards the end of the session, he was making good progress and making sentences all by himself. He has come a long way since the beginning of our sessions. Next session will likely be devoted to continuing the exercise he was assigned today."
"Today was our first day using the Spanish book and note cards I purchased for the student. She loved using the flashcards; I think they are a great way to keep her engaged. We mastered numbers 1-10 and colors today, which she already has some prior knowledge of. I also assigned her four pages of homework in her workbook for next week."
"Today, the student and I continued reviewing material that had been previously covered during the semester. In particular, we spent a large portion of our time on telling time and gustar-like verbs. She had very few issues with either of these topics. We spent some time talking about ways for her to practice outside of tutoring, such as learning websites and graded readers. We finished out the session by focusing on reading a children's book in Spanish, targeting pronunciation of vowels as well as the consonants ch/j/y/ll."
"In today's session, to better check on the students' progress I gave them a vocabulary quiz as well as a mini test on the concepts that we have learned so far. The only thing that they seemed to struggle with was some conjugations of verbs. The students were very eager to find out the mistakes they had made on the test and to practice the conjugations again. After the test, we spent the rest of our time on conjugating verbs as well as learning some new vocabulary. The session was very productive."
"The student and I worked for over an hour in preparation for his exam, and on homework. We reviewed colors and garments. In addition, we studied some history and completed a grammar assignment on nouns. He did an excellent job. We learned about cognates in English and Spanish. The student showed great improvement from the previous class. He finds it much easier to work when he is in a quiet space."
