Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We first reviewed the time and the greetings, then we started to learn the entire "time and date" calendar, including how to say: year, month, day, and week. We practiced saying the days and times, including how to say military times. He now has learned all the way from Monday to Sunday, and from January to December. Today he also learned how to say: sorry and that's alright. The homework is to practice saying different dates and times."
"Today the student was given a lot of measure words in Chinese, which I think enlightened her interest in Chinese more than before. Also, I introduced some characters about animals by drawing to show the similarity and development of them. She was still encouraged to write down Chinese characters, as many as possible."
"The student and I had a very good session today. We focused on expanding vocabulary like we have been, and we worked on several new verbs as well. Additionally, I worked with him on reading a newspaper in Spanish--an important step forward."
"The student and I spent the first part of our session in conversation. We then moved on to grammar practice, going over exercises that she had done at home using the preterite and imperfect tenses. We looked into the next chapter on the use of the future and conditional tenses, which she will work on this week. We discussed the short reading from our reading book and looked over the related exercises that she had done on learning vocabulary through context and how to build vocabulary by recognizing word endings. We spent the remaining portion of our time discussing the novel that we're reading, with her reading to me a written summary of what she had read. We looked at new and unfamiliar vocabulary that we encountered."
"The student did well today. We reviewed for his exam tomorrow. We practiced me gusta, nos gusta, les gusta for "I like" and plural forms. We went over vocabulary, and I quizzed him on the terms. He also had some worksheets and we reviewed them. I asked him questions from these for practice."
"Today we reviewed the first homework assignment and finished up the activities from the previous session. We then went over how to conjugate the imperfect and part of the preterit. Next session, we will finish the preterit as well as review the homework and practice I left. Overall, this was another great session."
