Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"To begin this session, the student completed a short oral exercise. I then began to work on direct object pronouns with him. I explained the purpose of pronouns and how to identify the direct object of a sentence. For homework, I asked him to complete a worksheet and prepare for an oral exercise."
"The student needed help with her homework assignment and essay preparation/brainstorming. Today we discussed the homework assignment and began to plan and strategize the essay she needs to write in Spanish. We read through a Spanish essay and some other information that she will use on her essay."
"In this very first session, the students set their tutoring goals; these are mainly focused on improving their conversational skills and reading comprehension, and learning more vocabulary. Then we checked the school materials that they are currently using, and we solved some exercises together, clarifying grammar topics related to them. Finally, we checked and corrected pronunciation and reading comprehension. Both students are highly motivated to improve their conversational fluency in Spanish, and they are open to listen and apply my recommendations."
"The student's teacher gave her the opportunity to make corrections to her Spanish test for partial credit. She asked for help checking her corrections for accuracy. She initially had a hard time remembering the meanings of the verbs and choosing the appropriate pronoun. As we reviewed, she became more accurate in her answers. She is motivated and bright."
"Today was our last session, so we reviewed some of things we've learned (future tense, ser/estar, past tense) by asking open-ended questions. I really enjoyed teaching this student and wish her the best of luck."
"For this session, we covered reading comprehension, and I reviewed some of the student's past school assignments. I corrected some of the errors and explained why they were incorrect. We also continued studying the present perfect, with the addition of irregular verbs. I helped her with some extra credit assignments that covered the understanding of popular music and movies, and she created a small written report of what was learned."
