Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I created a PowerPoint presentation for his chemistry review guide. Moving forward, we will finish the review guide and answer questions involving its concepts."
"We continued to work on the student's Midterm review. We covered topics from electron configuration to gas laws. The student has a good theoretical understanding. He may need to improve problem solving skills and I plan to do this by tackling more practice questions. We will meet again to finish studying for the midterms."
"Covered naming of transition metal compounds. Covered naming of organic molecules. I gave them extra practice with naming organic molecules."
"Today we went over some problems from an old chemistry exam. This exam included practice with: unit conversions, limiting reagent, balancing chemical equations, significant figures, compound nomenclature, and more. The student's first chemistry exam is Friday, so after we go through all of the problems on his old exam, I suggested that he take the old exam by himself, in a classroom setting, timed. He should be very prepared if he does this."
"We went over a packet of worksheets that dealt with unit conversions and dimensional analysis. The student initially needed help with how to solve these problems, but appeared to pick up the pattern to solving them. He did need a fair bit of guidance and encouragement to get through the problems, but he did get through them. When his class gets into stoichiometry, it may make more sense for why this is useful."
"We did chirality, achiral molecules, R & S configuration, plane of symmetry, and point of inversion."
