Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We completed the student's Chemistry and Geometry homework. We also worked on her newest English paper, began studying for her Geometry test on Friday, and laid out a study plan for her History and Geometry tests this week."
"The student is planning to take the assessment test in order to gain access to a private high school, so in our first session we went over online practice questions for math. She really seemed to grasp all of the concepts that we went over and was very happy with her progress because a lot of the stuff that she saw on her practice test she had no idea how to do, and now she does."
"The student and I focused a bit more on science this time around, and worked on strategies to improve pacing/efficiency. We also focused on math, specifically on answering more carefully and systematically, taking time when needed."
"Today I introduced the student to the assessment, giving her a general overview of what she can expect on test day. We targeted her strengths (reading, writing the essay) and places where she could improve (grammar, math). I introduced her to a method that will help her stay focused on the math questions as she goes through the test since she says she often loses focus on the object of the question while she is working through the problems. We went through the steps she has to take to write an effective persuasive essay on the assessment. I then showed her the most commonly tested grammar errors in the writing section and we did relevant practice problems. "
"The student and I continued to work on math facts today. She consistently beat her previous times. She also took a few minute math quizzes today as a baseline. I'm very pleased with the results. Well done!"
"The student has begun the Reading Comprehension section, so we picked up with RC today, walking through a passage from preptest 52, demonstrating the way the test requires you to read for structure (and how to tease that structure apart)."
