Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We listened to and sang along to two German kids' songs, Snappi das kleine Krokodil, and Knutt der kleine Eisbaer, and then talked about animals at the zoo. We practiced counting, body parts, the days of the week, and some of the months."
"The student and I focused on critical reading passages today. We are experimenting with strategies. Next week we are going to put together a weekly study schedule for her to allow her to study between sessions."
"The student had several major projects due for school which including finding and writing some brief information on the American flag and learning the preamble to the Constitution in addition to his regular spelling. With the new semester, the teacher's expectation have risen accordingly, and this week was a learning curve for him and likely all the students in his class as they worked to meet these higher expectations."
"In the first session, the student and I focused on practicing sentences like "I'm sick" and "I don't feel well." We also went over "ache" using different body parts that he'd learned previously. In the second session, we began going over common household items like phone and computer, and we practiced sentence structures with those words."
"The student worked hard during this session to prepare for her geometry test. She did very well on all the basics, and we reviewed her quiz. I wish her the best of luck with her test and I am certain that she will see good results."
"We began by reviewing and correcting a writing assignment that the student had done in class last week. The writing overall was good, but as her teacher pointed out, she had some errors with autografia (accent marks), and agreement of nouns and adjectives (gender and number). She was able to self-correct most of the errors herself. She was unsure of the differences between "tan" "tanto" "tanta" "tantos" and "tantas." We looked at some explanations of the differences and some example sentences. I will bring some additional exercises related to this topic to our next class. From there we reviewed more preterite tense verb conjugations. She has a firm grasp on these verb conjugations, especially the stem changing irregular verbs. However, there were a few verbs whose meaning she did not know. So she should commit those to memory."
