Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on the algebra and geometry section. The student did really well on algebra, missing problems mostly for insignificant reasons. She had a little more trouble with the geometry because she is less familiar with the material. We will need to practice a lot more in that area."
"Topics Covered: ACT Prep Math
Progress Achieved: the student now has a more solid understanding of the approach needed to solve ACT Math test problems, as well as an understanding of what formulas she will need to memorize for the test."

"The student and I spent time discussing her research paper topic and, how to organize her paper in a fluid and concise manner. Though she did not have her sources yet, we discussed what type of sources and the source content that would be most beneficial to her paper. During this session, I helped her formulate a basic thesis statement, that she can expand upon as her paper develops, based on the source material that she chooses. We also wrote out a basic outline for her body paragraphs, based on the Schaefferesque technique I taught her previously. "
"We went over the difference between Newton's theory of gravitation and Einstein's view of gravitational fields, then practiced on problems that highlighted this distinction. The student made significant progress in learning the nuances of it."
"The student and I had our first session! We worked on multiplying two and threedigit numbers. I noticed that she had trouble with the upper multiplication tables so we made flash cards for the 6, 7, 8 and 9 multiplication tables."
"We made final adjustments and reviewed for her resume and one cover letter. We then spent the last 30 minutes going back to working on grammar and pronunciation to ensure her comfort in an interview situation."
"We covered the Case Study Method (6 steps). We worked through a case study the client is presently preparing for his international business class. We began to set the strategy for our next session."
"The student took the SAT this past weekend, and felt that the test went better than last time. Because she no longer needs SAT tutoring, we worked on a "Intro to Business" packet that she has to complete for school."
"The student had a good grasp on the computational side of his work. He was having trouble working through a class project a paper applying concepts learned in class to a book he had to read. We worked on creating an outline for the paper and flesh out some ideas and examples to draw from."
"For the student's Logistics class, he had a case study to work on. He had to use a set of variables to determine which supplier would be suited for a project in which manufacturing was to take place. He worked through the problem mathematically, then he logistically showed all the possible scenarios. He then picked the best one logistically."
"Spent the session working on the Excel spreadsheet for his business entrepreneur class. He had done some research prior to this session, as well as an interview with a local business owner in the area. This helped with getting some of the data imputed onto the spreadsheet. From there, we did some more research on what exactly his cost of goods sold should be as well as an typical annual wage for that business owner.
From there we were able to figure out the rest of the wages and the other worksheets. We did have a few questions about figuring out some of the equity calculations and what those parts of the spreadsheet represent. At this time, the majority of the spreadsheet and all modules are complete for the class."
"I interviewed the student about his course load and the kind of help he is looking for, then we talked about his upcoming assignments and the expectations of his professors. We spent the last chunk of the session going over different strategies to organize for essay writing, taking notes and planning ahead for big projects."
